The second annual Interfaith and multicultural - Flavours of Iftar event was held on July 20, 2013 at THEMUSUEM in downtown Kitchener - where approximately 200 guests attended the event.

 

PROGRAM

Interfaith & Multicultural Flavours of Iftar Dinner (End of Fasting)

  • 7:00 pm Registration and Social
  • 7:15 pm Welcome remarks
  • 7:20 pm Recitation from the Holy Scripture
  • 7:25 pm Philosophy to Fasting in Different Faiths – Interfaith Iftar Panel
    (Representatives from different faiths & Philosophies:
    Judaism, Christianity, Sikhism, Hinduism, Islam)
  • 7:55 pm Many Flavors of Iftar (End of Fasting) - Multi Cultural Iftar Panel
    (Traditions from Arabia, Africa, Far East, Asia and North America)
  • 8:25 pm Greetings and Impressions from dignitaries and leaders
  • 8:40 pm Keynote Speaker: Philosophy of Fasting
  • 9:00 pm Multi-cultural Iftar and Dinner

Interfaith Panel:

The following presented the different forms of fasting in their respective faith traditions:

  • Dr. Tim Hegedus (Represented Christianity)
  • Dr. Daniel Maoz (Represented Judaism)
  • Dr. Simarjeet Singh (Represented Sikhism)
  • Missionary Sadiq Ahmed (Represented Islam)

Multicultural Panel:

The following presented the culture of fasting and Iftar in their respective regions of the World

  • Professor Al-Hassan (Represented Ghana)
  • Adam Alaxandar (Represented North America)
  • Gehan Sabry (Represented Egypt)

Keynote Speaker:

  • Mirza Muhammad Afzal (Philosophy of Fasting)

PARKING INFO:

Parking in downtown Kitchener is available at a number of parking lots.

- Parking Lot#2: Located at 19 Queen Street is the closest and is free after 6:00 pm. (About 3 minutes walk to THEMUSEUM)
- Parking Lot#8: Located at 31 Young Street with entrance from Duke street as well is also very close and free after 6:00 pm (About 5 minutes walk to THEMUSEUM)
- Market Square Parking Garage: Located on the corner of Fredrick and King Street in the Shopping Plaza is also close by and free all day Saturday (About 7 minutes walk to the THEMUSEUM)
- Road side parking is limited 2 hours and can used to drop of passengers
- Paid parking is available in parking garage of Duke & Ontario - 33 Ontario Street North. Rate for 2 hours will be $3.00. This parking is connected internally to THEMUSEUM.
